Jamileh of Maine Belly Dance presents The Evermore Fantabulous Spring Studio Show!

Come out to see Josephina and some of Maine’s most talented performers Wednesday, May 30, 2012 @ John Ford Auditorium, Portland High School. Doors open at 6:30pm. Show starts at 7pm. $10 per person at the door. Net proceeds benefit Planned Parenthood of Northern New England.

2012 Ongoing Spring Belly Dance Class Schedules

Authentic Belly Dance, or raks sharqi, is an ancient form of dance. Raks sharqi means “dance of the east” in Arabic. Belly dance celebrates every body type and every stage of life. The dance is proud and powerful and soft and sinewy with elegant and isolating movements emanating from the core. It’s the Pilates of dance. And so much fun! Please wear comfortable clothing, similar to what you might wear to a yoga class, that will allow for free movement and the ability to see your movement. Hip scarves make it even more fun. You can dance barefoot or in a pair of comfortable dance shoes. Zils (finger cymbals) will also be used in class and are available for purchase from the instructor.

Advanced Beginner/Intermediate Classes (Completion of three consecutive sessions and/or instructor approval required)

Mondays, 7:30-8:30pm, July 2 - September 10, 2012

11 weeks for $132 / 9 weeks for $117 / 7 weeks for $88

Beginner/ Continuing Beginner Classes

Thursdays, 5:30pm-6:30pm, June 7 - September 6, 2012

14 weeks for $154 / 12 weeks for $138 / 10 weeks for $120 / 8 weeks for $100

Intermediate / Advanced Classes

Thursdays, 7-8:15pm, July 5 - September 13, 2012

Drop-in rate is $15 per class. Please check in with me prior to dropping in.

I’ve decided to offer it in these terms with summer in mind. All I ask is that you let me know when you won’t be coming to class so if there’s a night where everyone takes off, I can take the time to play, too. There’s a 10% discount on your second class.
