Pen2Page Workshop: Fiction Writing
The Story Workshop is a specific method that allows writers to move at their own pace in developing their perceptual, technical, and imaginative abilities throughout the fun and complex process of writing fiction.
Each week published work is read aloud. Then we go through a series of imaginative exercises beginning with word games, to impromptu tellings, to imagining a story place with characters and objects, to the telling of the story with coaching from the instructor. Everyone writes and what’s written in class is read aloud for class feedback.
Point-of-view, present moment storytelling, gesture, audience, the writing process, and elements of scene will be emphasized through reading, writing, listening, and telling stories aloud. All exercises and activities are geared toward helping writers discover their oral and written voices and develop a better editorial sense of their work.
A minimum of 4-5 (double-spaced and typed) pages of writing will be due each session.
Class size is kept to an eight-person maximum.
